The hotel we were invited to stay at is called the Hotel and Spa Du Castellet, a luxury five star hotel in Provence and a member of the prestigious Maison Relais & Chateaux.
The hotel is a beautifully designed contemporary building, combining art with minimalism. With water moats around the building and sculptures throughout, the hotel feels like you have just stepped into a museum. It is the picturesque place to stay, with two pools outside facing the mountains of Provence.
All rooms face south to get the best view and each room had its own terrace with sun loungers, something we certainly made the most of.
We arrived late afternoon, around 5pm and were checked in to our rooms. We had a 7pm meet up time and so had a quick turn around before meeting everyone on the terrace for pre dinner drinks. We were presented on arrival with a glass of bubbly and some appetisers. That evening we were dining in the Bistrot Chic Le San Felice restaurant, a terraced restaurant with panoramic views of the grounds of the hotel. The menu was pre chosen, and written completely in French so we had no idea what we were eating, and the food was divine!! Wine was a Rose (of course, we are in the South of France after all).
Day number one at the hotel, we had breakfast on another terraced area of the hotel, outside because the weather was already hitting 30 degrees. The breakfast buffet was exquisite and the ambience was so peaceful.
Today was the first day we were visiting a vineyard. We were heading to Domain Ott, infamous for its Rose. It was an hour and a half drive there
